Our day
We started our day at the Castleford Harvester – The Winding Wheel – Postcode WF10 4PS as it was a good meeting place and an excuse to enjoy breakfast.
It is not a buffet breakfast; the menu is below. Also, with all their breakfasts you get unlimited toast & preserves.
Another bonus is for 99p you can get either unlimited coffee, tea or fruit juice. We definitely got our moneys worth here!
I have to say this was the best Harvester I’d been to in years. To be honest I had written off the Harvester chain, but we chose this venue as it suited us as a meeting place. I’m really pleased we did!
The Winding Wheel had a great welcoming feeling. The staff were amazing and although breakfast was busy, they still had time to be attentive and notice to top up our drinks.
The food was also spot on, it was very nice.

After a very leisurely breakfast and catch up, we headed to the Junction 32 Shopping Outlet Village, which was only a short walk away from the Harvester.
The shopping outlet is suitable for dogs as the entrance to all of the shops is from the outside. They even have water bowls around the village.
We enjoyed a mosey around many of the shops and even got to enjoy watching some festive singing.
We then walked over to Xscape Yorkshire, which was only a short walk from the Junction 32 Shopping Outlets.
Wow what an amazing vibe! After everything we have been through with COVID and so many places in every city and town closing down, it was fabulous to find a venue doing so well. We didn’t try out any of the activities but had we wanted to, we were spoilt for choice!
The Cineworld complex had a sofa area near the entrance, so we decided to buy some drinks and just relax for a while. The new Ghostbuster movie was just being released, so we were lucky enough to see a team of ‘Ghostbusters!!’ in the foyer!!
Mid afternoon we headed to TGI Fridays for a late lunch before heading home. The TGI Fridays in Castleford is found within the Xscape complex and its postcode is WF10 4TA.
TGI Fridays is always a good bet to get a lovely meal and today was no exception – it’s not the cheapest though!

Overall a fab day and a perfect meeting place.
